HOW WE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
After a global stroke informational review, the Foundation determined that to make a significant difference there is a need for an educational initiative, “Succeeding in Your Stroke Recovery”.
This is being created in a brick and mortar format in SW Florida and as a virtual podcast/video format online. Weekly sessions, which will be archived online, will be held with participants who will receive a workbook with optional exercises to complete. As in all stroke recovery, you only get out of it what you put into it.
AWARENESS AND ADVOCACY
Stroke Recovery Foundation is pursuing stroke awareness advocacy initiatives. These public outreach efforts include public speaking to businesses, governments, and the public. The Foundation engages in social and traditional media campaigns and political testimony to change the perception and understanding of the disease called stroke, symptoms and also the signs of stroke, stroke prevention and stroke recovery.
STROKE NAVIGATION AND COACHING
In SW Florida, the Foundation will step up the growth of its beta Stroke Navigation Service. This stroke coaching service assists survivors and their caregivers in their recovery journey including the identification of stroke recovery resources.
STROKE RECOVERY FUND
Upon receipt of appropriate funding, the Foundation will establish a Stroke Recovery Fund to pay for needed unreimbursed therapy for those lacking the means to pay for it.
Together, these initiatives will:
Increase the understanding and belief that every stroke survivor’s life can be greatly improved through education regarding stroke recovery opportunities and personal determination;
Increase the education and the appreciation of the critical role of the caregiver(s) partner and the importance of fostering their well-being while they care for the survivor;
Increase the awareness (knowledge) regarding stroke’s physical, emotional, and financial impact on persons of all ages, families, society, and how to mitigate the impacts;
Focus attention on the lifestyle changes required to reduce stroke’s incidence;
IMPROVE THE OUTLOOK FOR STROKE SURVIVORS AND THEIR CAREGIVER PARTNERS!
Note: Much of our Plan is based on parts of successful UK and Canadian programs… proven initiatives that are improving the lives of stroke survivors and their caregivers.
