Stroke Prevention Month Being Proclaimed by Naples, FL Mayor Bill Barnett at behest of Stroke Recovery Foundation
Understanding the importance of stroke prevention in Naples and throughout the nation, Naples Mayor Bill Barnett is proclaiming that February is Stroke Prevention Month. “We picked February at the behest of Stroke Recovery Foundation, whose headquarters we are proud to say is in Naples, because our population swells during the winter months. We have many part-time residents who along with our full-timers have a great interest in Stroke Prevention.
There is a need to increase stroke awareness because it is an under-served disease and therefore needs more of the public’s attention.” said Mayor Barnett. Bob Mandell, Founder of Stroke Recovery Foundation said “The medical stroke community say that stroke can be prevented by more than half of the people who have strokes.
We determined that our Foundation had to focus its attention on stroke prevention in addition to stroke recovery which is why we asked the Mayor to act. We are grateful!”
The ceremony will be held in the City Council Chamber, 735 8th Street, Naples, FL during the City Council Meeting on February 21st at 8:30 am. The public is welcome and encouraged to support this initiative.
