Public Awareness

Bringing Stroke from the Shadows into the Sun!
How can it be – a disease which is both a significant killer (5th most lethal) and a long-term disabler (number 1 long-term disabler) is like a “secret” malady. It impacts between 800 and 900,000 Americans. It doesn’t pick favorites – affecting men and women, young and old, Democrats and Republicans, rich and poor, and all races and nationalities.

This is a BIG PROBLEM – Stroke Awareness is in the Tank!

And considering how impactful it is, this must be addressed with the highest priority, which is what Stroke Recovery Foundation is doing.

So just what is awareness? Dictionaries define awareness as “knowledge or perception of a situation or fact”, for example. – “we need to raise public awareness of an issue”. In this caseBringing Stroke from the Shadows into the Sun!

The Tornado Disease

This is the “tornado” disease, striking with little or no warning!
Yet, how many people are aware that 80% of strokes are preventable with lifestyle changes that seemingly few want to adapt?

Or, are you aware of the Signs and Symptoms of Stroke, and what to do should a stroke be suspected?

And, did you know that stroke recovery is a lifelong journey with gains possible many years post-stroke? Not a 1-year sprint!
