Bob attended the recent UK Stroke Forum in Liverpool and met many high level medical professionals including Professor Sir Brian Keough, Medical Director of NHS England. The UK is coming to the end of a Stroke Initiative which they are considering renewing. Unfortunately, listening to Sir Brian there are budgetary constraints which may prevent renewal. There was talk of a conundrum when one considers the increasing incidence of stroke in the UK due to demographics on the one hand and the constrained budgets on the other hand.
I find it remarkable that Stroke, and particularly stroke recovery is not funded properly. This is particularly so when one considers funding for other serious diseases. This must be changed!
